My favorite place to watch trains in all of Southern Maine is the Scarborough Marsh. A vast wetland with wide open views of the main line from all directions, the Marsh is an absolute gem of a spot to photograph. Amtrak & CSX (formerly Pan Am) trains enter the Scarborough Marsh a little ways south of Rigby Yard, and run along the estuary for rest of the distance through Pine Point and into Old Orchard Beach.
